What is the Simmons Genealogy Collection?

The Simmons Genealogy Collection was introduced to the public on April 16, 2016, at the Vernon Historical Society Museum at Vernon City Hall. This collection is the result of the lifelong work of Mr. Stephen B. Simmons who taught at Vernon High School and consists of approximately 28,000 documents that chronicles the history of Vernon and surrounding communities. A group of dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly for two years to sort, catalog, scan, and file a large variety of documents to provide a useable base of information for genealogy and history enthusiasts. NB: The Simmons family requested that the Collection remain preserved in hard-copy format. Thus, to request a look up, simply click the button below to view a pdf containing all the titles of the file folders; then, send us an email, and we will let you know what documents are available.
